Shellsburg American Legion Breakfast Saturday, April 16 8-10:00 a.m.

The Shellsburg American Legion Saturday morning breakfast is held each Saturday. The hours are 8 - 10 am. We ask people to social distant at the tables (families of course can sit together) and wear masks if you choose.The Shellsburg American Legion holds a breakfast every Saturday 8:00 to 10:00 a.m Cost Freewill Donation. The menu includes: Pancakes, Link Sausage and Scrambled Eggs Weekly Specials 1st Sat: Sausage Gravy & Biscuits  2nd Sat: Sausage Gravy & Biscuits (leftover) 3rd Sat: Omelets to order (ham, cheese, peppers, onions, mushrooms) 4th Sat: Waffles5th Sat: Pancakes, Link Sausage, Scrambled Eggs Proceeds to go to Shellsburg Legion Activities and ImprovementNever forget that at every minute of every day, there are members of our Armed Forces in harm's way and we need to pray for their safety and return home soonWe appreciate the past support for all the community does for the American Legion.

Kiwanis Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday, April 16 10:00 a.m.

Vinton Today has received word that the Easter Bunny will arrive at the Kiwanis Park on W 13th St & Hwy 218, in Vinton. The plan is that on Saturday, April 16, 2022, promptly at 10:00 a.m. there will be an Easter Egg Hunt with the help of the Kiwanis. (if there is bad weather it will be moved to the Vinton Skate Center) There will be 4 separate Easter Egg Hunt areas based on ages:3 and Under4 & 5-year-olds6 & 7-year-olds8 and olderThis will be a fun and family-friendly event! Dads and moms, let the kids know that the Easter Bunny plans to hop in for a special appearance.

Food Pantry Scheduled for Saturday, April 16

Wesley United Methodist Church Food Pantry will be held on Saturday, April 16th. The hours will be from 10-11 a.m. please bring bags with you to carry home groceries.The church is located next to the library at 516 2nd Ave. in Vinton.

Author Linda McCann will visit the Vinton Public Library on Wednesday, April 20 at 10:30 am.Author Linda McCann will give a presentation concerning beginning genealogy research. She will also discuss her current books and upcoming book!

Center Point-Urbana, Here's to You - All School Reunion June 4

After two years of being derailed by COVID, it’s full steam ahead for the Center Point-Urbana All School Reunion. The event will be held on June 4th during the Center Point Lions Club Pork Days celebration.The reunion is sponsored by the Center Point Historical Society. The reunion committee chair is Society treasurer Teresa Scheeler. Historical Society president Philip Andersen’s daughter, Eva Andersen, a Minneapolis tv reporter, will emcee the program following the 12:30 banquet.

PUBLIC FORUM APRIL 19 IN DYSART PROVIDES FACTS ABOUT INDUSTRIAL WIND TURBINES

Tama County residents interested in learning more about the impact of wind turbines in the wake of a proposed industrial wind turbine project in Tama County are invited to attend a public meeting and forum, Tuesday, April 19, starting at 7 p.m. at the Middle School auditorium at 505 West Street in Dysart.Originally planned for the Dysart Community Building, interest in the April 19 citizen-led session has already been so strong, that event organizers moved it to the largest venue in the area, the Union Middle School auditorium.
